There are many institutions that have offered augmented reality experiences for guests. Some include the Histories of the National Mall (which offers a map for exploration and education on mobile devices or desktop), Art of London (which is an interactive educational experience), or Passport to the Afterlife (where visitors find markers and collect information for personal passports). In relation to these experiences, we would like to incorporate augmented reality for educational purposes, but also a way for visitors to interact with space and place. For example, experiences like Melbourne's 64 Ways of Being (which brings Indigenous voices and art to life) or Artebinaria's Open-Air Museum (which displays mini art galleries in modern-day landscapes) incorporates the current environment and uses augmented reality to immerse visitors in conversations about the past, present, and future. Our goal is to create a similar project for Wanuskewin.
